Our tips for your application video

In addition to the usual documents such as your resume, we would like to introduce you personally.
The aim is to convince potential employers with an application video of yours, in which you show how good your German is, what motivates you, and what you can do.

Technical checklist

✔ Format: Landscape format is better for desktop viewers, portrait format is okay for mobile phones.

✔ Lighting: Face well lit (daylight from the front, no window behind you).

✔ Sound: Quiet environment, no background noise.

✔ Clothing: "Business casual" or directly in medical clothing (scrub/doctors coat), which immediately looks professional.

The structure

For the common thread in your video

The video should be divided into 5 distinct sections:

  1. Greeting & personal details (approx. 10-20 seconds)
    • Name, origin, current place of residence.
    • Short sentence: "I am a veterinarian."
  2. Education & experience (approx. 30-40 seconds)
    • Where did you study? When did you graduate?
    • Specializations: Small animals? Large animals? Surgical experience?
    • Current occupation (e.g., "I have been working in a clinic in Cairo for 2 years...").
  3. Motivation for Germany (approx. 20-30 sec.)
    • Why Germany? (High medical standards, quality of life).
    • Why this program? (Seeking support with licensure).
  4. Language skills & bureaucracy (approx. 20 sec.)
    • Very important: What is your current language level? (Do you have a certificate?).
    • When would you be ready to start?
  5. Conclusion & call to action (approx. 10 sec.)
    • Thank you and anticipation.

Pro tips

  • Be honest: if your German isn't perfect yet, say so. "I'm still a little nervous when speaking, but I'm practicing hard." That comes across as likable.
  • Show your personality: Briefly mention whether you have a pet. This creates a connection.
  • Don't read from a script: Stick some key points next to the camera, but don't read the whole text. Speaking freely (even with mistakes) is 100 times better than reading perfectly.
